Wesley Clover Solutions Announces Advances in Virtualized UC Communications Solution for Trading Floors

Teams with Mitel to Offer Industry Leading Real-Time Voice Virtualization Capabilities with VMware for the Capital Markets Sector

New York, NY – April 14, 2010 — Wesley Clover Solutions, a leading provider of IP voice communications platforms for financial trading firms and command and control centers, today announced significant advances in their virtualized voice trading platform portfolio including:

  • Introduction of Virtual MCD (Virtual Mitel Communications Director), the first real-time voice application to run in a virtualized environment designed for the VMware® vSphere 4 platform
  • Virtual MCD is a software download that runs on VMware vSphere 4, enabling customers to access and install Mitel® call control software on virtualized industry-standard servers
  • This software approach allows enterprises to build internal clouds that transform their voice infrastructure from a nodal, site-based architecture into a dynamic, flexible service for their employees
  • Customers have deployed Virtual MCD in sites ranging from 30 to more than 2,000 users

The solution leverages VMware vSphere 4 to enable customers to consolidate Mitel’s leading voice applications alongside other business applications in the datacenter. This creates potential for:

  • Capital savings due to the significant reduction in server hardware and real estate
  • Operational savings with the reduction in power consumption and server provisioning costs
  • Productivity improvements and resource efficiencies in datacenter management
  • Risk mitigation for business continuity and disaster recovery planning

“The benefits of VMware virtualization for enterprises are well-documented,” said Peter Madsen, President and CEO of Wesley Clover Solutions. “We are excited to be able to work with Mitel to offer our capital markets customers the ability to realize these advantages with their voice infrastructure.”

Previously, you could not virtualize real-time voice applications due to the poor call quality resulting from latency and jitter issues. Virtual MCD has overcome this technology challenge, allowing mission-critical voice applications to run alongside other business applications in the data center. This introduces an array of IP communications capabilities that enhance trader productivity and collaboration among staff both on and off the trading floor irrespective of their location. Enterprises and IT staff benefit from simplified infrastructure, reduced footprint and operating costs and significantly increased scalability.

“This is a unique IP communications platform that enables financial trading firms to support trading floors, contact centers, office staff and mobile or remote workers on a single platform that is scalable from 10-65,000 users,” said Chris Corridon, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Wesley Clover Solutions.
